Maura Frana is a Chicago-based designer and educator. She is currently a Visiting Faculty member at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and exploring iterative, concept-driven work with her students. Her research is focused on the role of linguistic theory in design methodology,  research, practice, and pedagogy.

She is the co-author of Five Conversations on Graphic Design and Creative Writing, alongside Leigh Mignogna and Liz Seibert, which considers interdisciplinary approaches to design education, and was the first of its series by Pratt Press.
